World Solar Challenge
The biannual World Solar Challenge (WSC) is the world's premier solar vehicle event. Teams from accross the globe rise to the challenge to design and build cars capable of crossing the vast Australian continent powered only by sunlight. The race spans the 3000km from Darwin to Adelaide across some of the most scenic Australian landscapes. It is a testimant to the durability, efficiency and speed of the cars. The Sunswift IV will compete in the next WSC, October 2009.

SunRace has ceased operations, however it was previously a prestigious Australian solar car and electric vehicle event in which Sunswift competed.
North American Solar Challenge
The North American Solar Challenge (NASC) is an event in which solar vehicles race 2400 miles from Dallas, Texas to Calgary, Alberta. In 2008 the UNSW SRT sent two representatives to NASC as observers and one day hopes to be able to compete in the race.
South African Solar Challenge
The South African Solar Challenge is an epic, two-week race around South Africa. The topography of the route is substantially different to that of the WSC and hilly areas pose a new challenge for solar vehicles.
