On Friday 10th October the 4WD towing our solar car was involved in an accident on route to Darwin. The 4WD, trailer and solar car were all badly damaged. Fortunately the only injuries sustained by those in the 4WD were minor cuts and bruises.
As we were down one vehicle and the damage to the solar car would be extremely hard to repair in time, the decision was made to withdraw from the 2003 World Solar Challenge.
The University was notified of the accident minutes after it happened, and since then has been very supportive of the team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the University and also all of our sponsors, families and friends for the help and support they have given us over the past few days.
