| | | | | | We spent the night last night in relative luxury at the Erldunda roadhouse. The catering team was given the night off and everyone enjoyed a hot shower. Unfortunately, we weren't afforded the luxury of sleeping late the next morning, and the alarm patrol drove us from our swags at the usual 5:30am. The drive to the Marla media stop was relatively uneventful. The next car ahead, the KIT Golden Eagle, was not at the media stop when we arrived, having made better time than us between Alice Springs and Marla. Behind us, it's a different story. The Tamagawa Yellow Dolphin and Faust stayed close on our heels. We passed Coober Pedy, the famous opal mining town. The landscape is typical for South Australia, except for the remarkable piles of mining tailings and the odd-looking mining equipment scattered everywhere... Late afternoon clouds curtailed our progress and we finished the day on a deserted stretch of the Stuart Highway, about 70 km north of the Glendambo media stop, having neither gained or lost any places in the standings. For the first time since leaving Sydney, we had relatively little to do in the late afternoon. So, once the array was set up and charging, we dug out the cricket bats, a tennis ball, and some makeshift stumps and set up right on the deserted Stuart Highway... Of course, no cricket game is complete without a crowd of unrulies... Willy The Whale Willy!
