| | | The team again pushed its luck arriving at the start of the Mildura to Charlton stage 5 minutes before the car was meant to be in place. Fortunately we had breakfast to sort out such things as putting it together. It was during this time that a bulletin was put out to all teams that, due to road works, there would be a 30km stretch where the car would have to packed up and taken out at the other side. This caused a whole lot of problems for those doing strategy, but by the time trailer left at 9:30 this seemed to working itself out. The race unfolded as it had in previous days. Not long before the first media stop, UNSW Sunswift II blew a front tyre that was quickly fixed and we were back on the road. None the less it was a time advantage we would have preferred not to concede to Aurora. After a delay in getting the car into the trailer, we made it through to the next control stop were a group of school children eagerly awaited to see what was going to come out of the trailer. But the excitement couldn't last long since we had a race to keep going in. Though the observer was concerned that we have been unfairly charging the array during this time, it was easily shown we weren't. Not long after 3PM the car pulled into Charlton some 8 minutes behind Aurora. Dinner was provided by the Lions club of Charlton, and the change from BBQ's was appreciated by all, most hadn't had a roast dinner for a long time. In what seemed to be an amazing turn of events not only did the team manage to pack up before it got dark, but we were not the last team to leave the sporting fields. As we drove out both Ned and Aurora were completing their packing. Tonight we stayed at the Bat and Ball hotel, and most of the team headed down for a drink, confident that they didn't really have to get up at 5am... Willy The Whale Willy!
