| | | Today marked our final day of travelling as we headed for Adelaide - where the start of AGO SunRace 2002 is to be held. The car was pulled out bright and early in the main street of Wilcannia (which coincidently was rather quiet until we got there), and again it created a lot of interest. For most people the closest they had ever been to a solar car was seeing one on television. While driving the solar car, we had our first real worry of the trip, when the rear wheel blew out going at 95km/h, but Adam Karkowski's high driving skill saw the car brought under control without too much drama. It was however a good opportunity to fine tune our tyre changes. On principle, a driver change was made and Tim Wardrop took the driver's seat. The rest of the drive was largely uneventful (fortunately.....sigh.). We drove through the Silver City, Broken Hill, where we will be arriving at the end of Sunday's racing, and followed the race route towards Peterborough. Satisfied with the way the car was performing, we packed it away on a deserted stretch of highway, and drove on to Peterborough. On the way we filled up with petrol and had lunch in the Manahill Hotel, an interesting establishment, with all manner of antiques scattered around the bar. Unfortunately none of the photos came out. At Peterborough we pulled up in a park to get the array in the sun again. While some were hard at work, others took the chance to relax a bit. A few of the locals came by, talking about the local electric vehicle which was entering AGO SunRace 2002 and casting an expert eye over our car. We accepted the offer to fill our water bottles from rainwater tanks, and were invited to do the same on Saturday when the first day of racing finished there. Willy The Whale Willy!
